the Koehn Sculptors'

We have two beautiful 100 year old ginkgo trees, each about 90 feet tall.  They are so healthy and bear the beautiful ginkgo fruit.  These majestic trees line the walkway to our home. 

Once stepped on, the fruit smells like animal dung- quite stinky.  Our visitors are not too amused with the lasting effects of the ginkgo berry on their shoes and consequently in their cars.

We compost the berries every year and our fruitful garden is a direct reaction to the wonderful powers of the ginkgo.  We are, however, looking for more interesting ways to use our "berries". 

 We are sponsoring a contest.  The most creative and viable way to use the ginkgo berries wins a  certificate for purchases in our home studio and a  gift certificate to one of our favorite Cleveland area restaurants whose specialty, we promise, is not a bucket of ginko berries  All entries must be delivered via email on our contact page and must be received by us no later than October 15, 2009.  The winner will be announced October 30. 2009.

 We are aware of the medicinal properties of processed gingko biloba but have yet to find a use that an everyday landowner could use besides composting.
